Artereal Artist Claude Jones is a finalist in the 2010 Redland Art Award for her work Monkey Magic.
In the face of research and experimentation in the world of biotechnology this poignant and provocative work reveals a version of an increasingly possible reality of cloned and ‘designer’ beings to order. The impact for future species and mankind and the plight and toll on animals used for experiments underpins all of Claude's works, highlighting her ongoing concern with animal rights.
The $10,000 award is part of a biennial contemporary painting competition organised by Redland Art Gallery. The winner of the award will be announced on November 7, 2010.
