Congratulations to Rebecca Beardmore who has won the 2010 Fremantle Arts Centre Print Award.
The decision to give the $12,000 award to Rebecca Beardmore was made by a judging panel which included Perth International Arts Festival visual arts program manager Margaret Moore, Monash University Museum of Art curator Kirrily Hammond and Queensland artist Vernon Ah Kee. The judges described Rebecca's work, which utilizes digital techniques alongside traditional printmaking methods, "as a timely example of how printmakers adapt to modern technology".
Rebecca Beardmore is currently working on an upcoming exhibition On Reflection which will be held at Artereal from 1 - 22 December 2010.
Rebecca Beardmore has exhibited extensively throughout Australia as well as internationally in North America, Europe and Asia. She completed her undergraduate studies at Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney, before returning to Canada to undertake postgraduate research at the University of Alberta. After a three month residency in Tokyo, Japan she returned to Sydney in 2001.
Rebecca Beardmore is a lecturer at Sydney College of the Arts and has previously lectured at The National Art School, Sydney and The University of Alberta, Canada. Her work is held in numerous institutional, museum and private collections, including the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Rhode Island School of Art and Design and The University of Alberta, Print Study Centre.
