Damian Dillon
Jailbreak
Queensland Centre for Photography
11 June - 10 July 2011

Damian Dillon’s work is an investigation into his own experiances of Irish-Australian migration. His process involves drawing onto or within the photographs using analogue or digital means, removing or revealing aspects of the image to represent the sense of faded memory or the presence of time past and present, and to highlight the cultural significance, the difference or the similarities of the new (dis)location. The urban built environment as a powerful metaphor for emotional states and for social symbolism is a constant through Dillon’s photographic practice.
