7pm: IS THIS ART? screening program

Artereal Gallery and dLux MediaArts are proud to present the fifth instalment of IS THIS ART? A ground breaking quarterly screening program of moving image works, IS THIS ART? aims to link art audiences with exciting new works by emerging creative practitioners. Viewers will be presented with curated programs of student works, drawn from the disciplines of film, video art and other time-based mediums.

The quarterly event will also incorporate video artworks by established contemporary artists from the Artereal stable. Audiences will benefit from an opportunity to revisit well-known and new works by established contemporary Australian video artists, as well as discover the latest works by emerging practitioners.

To coincide with this screening, we are proud to announce the IS THIS ART? Emerging Writers' Program. For the first time, our August screening will see the exhibiting artists paired with emerging writers; to launch new work and contribute to a dialectic around emerging video art practices in Australia, advancing the national profile of this expanding platform. The Program makes its debut with a catalogue featuring essays prepared by Chloé Wolifson, Claire Dalgleish and Megan Willoughby.

Artists include in the screening program are: Rose Jurd, Josh Harle, Angus Ware, Danielle Zorbas, Brooke Carlson, Ellen Formby and Simon Bare. To be shown alongside a video work by Artereal Artist Owen Leong.

IS THIS ART? is curated by Alex Sutcliffe of dLux MediaArts and is a Rozelle Contemporary Art Precinct initiative.
