ANNA CAREY in group show: 'Planes of Reality'

Anna Carey has been selected for the group exhibition, Planes of Reality, which opened last night at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts 'Shopfront' Space in Brisbane.

Planes of Reality features the works of seven contemporary Queensland artists, among them Anna Carey but also Katherine Appleby, Sue Beyer, Caitlin Franzmann, Emma Godfrey, Svenja Kratz and Donna Maree. These artists were selected by the team in the Flying Arts 2014 Curator's In Space Development Program for their shared investigation of the nature of reality in their work. Curated by seven emerging curators, the exhibition explores new ideas and themes around memory, expectations and desires.

Anna Carey's fragile cardboard architectural constructions, inspired by her immediate Gold Coast urban environment and documented in video and photographs, create an imaginative realm for the viewer and are known to tap into our collective memory, prompting feelings of Déjà vu and nostalgia.

The exhibition is a stimulating display of photography, painting, collage and sculpture, on display at the Shopfront from 3 December 2014 - 23 January 2015.
